Isidro Paiva works the intersection of ideas and media between painting and fashion. He subverts classical elements of garments and reformulates clichés – feminine and masculine – in a logic of individual and playful aesthetic statement.
“Maniac Shapes”, his debut fashion collection, was launched for Fall-Winter 2015-16, in Lisbon, followed by “Beauty of Misfit”, a collection presented within Sangue Novo in March 2018, an initiative for young and emerging designers created by Moda Lisboa. Isidro Paiva has also collaborated with CNB (Companhia Nacional de Bailado) in 2020, by designing the costumes for “Planeta Dança”, a ballet choreographed by Sonia Baptista.
Isidro Paiva was born in Portel, Portugal, in 1987. He studied painting in the university of Évora and attended the course Clothing techniques at Modatex, in Lisbon. In 2012, he completed a Footwear Design degree at ESAD, in Matosinhos.
